Domain & motif annotator
Scan a protein sequence for curated domain signatures and short motifs (kinase active sites, SH2/SH3, RING and C2H2 zinc fingers, N-glycosylation, NLS/NES, MAPK docking, and more). Results show on a residue track with a filterable table and CSV export.
This is a fast PROSITE-style pattern scan — not a full Pfam/HMM InterPro search. Use it for quick feature maps, then confirm important domains in UniProt or InterPro. Pairs with the PDB 3D viewer, phosphorylation, and ubiquitination predictors.
Run annotation to map domain and motif hits along the sequence.
How this tool works
Patterns use classic PROSITE syntax (x any residue, [AC] set,
{P} exclusion, (n,m) repeats). Each library entry is compiled to a regular
expression and scanned across the sequence in your browser.
What you get
- Hit positions (1-based), matched substring, category, and accession note
- A colour-coded track overview of where signatures fall
- Category filter to focus on domains, PTMs, localisation signals, or short motifs
Limitations and privacy
- Signature matches are not equivalent to full-length Pfam domains; short motifs (e.g. CXXC, PXXP) are especially prone to false positives.
- Context, structure, and taxonomy filters are not applied.
- Sequences are not uploaded to The Bond Lab servers.
